The Wascal Scholarship is organized by the government of Germany and this scholarship is beneficial and awarded to all African countries that are a member of the ECOWAS body nonetheless the German government collaborate with the West African Science Service Centre on climate change and adapted Land which is simply known as WASCAL.

THE WASCAL SCHOLARSHIP IN DETAILS
The Wascal Scholarship on climate and adapted land use is located in the western part of Africa and is being recognized as an international climate change institution that has recently launched a scholarship for the benefit of the African people that is a student from all Ecowas can apply for this scholarship if they wish to pursue a further study in their academic career such as a pursuit in master’s degree or postgraduate study. Note that;
- The Atlantic Technical University set up its fifth research master’s program in climate change and also in the aspect of marine science for the year 2024-2025 academic session and this scholarship will only make room for selected students 12 out of 24 so it is pretty competitive.
- The Université JOSEPH KI- ZERO located in Burkina Faso will take full charge of the master’s research program in informatics for climate change (MRP-ICC) this is since the master’s program is located at this university. The main objective of the program is to train critically a substantial amount of experts with reliable scientific computation and climate management skills in West African countries.
WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY FOR THE GERMAN GOVERNMENT WASCAL SCHOLARSHIP 2024
- Applicant must be a citizen of any Wascal member country examples of these countries includes; Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Senegal, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, The Gambia and lastly Togo.
- Others who are ECOWAS members may also be given admission but that will be on self-funding on an availability level.
- Interested applicants must have attained at least a bachelor’s degree in any of these fields; Biological Sciences, oceanography, fishing, or equivalent livestock engineering, geography, and lastly science of that atmosphere.
- Also, applicants who will be applying for the master’s research program in informatics for climate change must have obtained a bachelor’s degree in computer science, health sciences, meteorology, chemistry, geography, environmental sciences, economics, agricultural science, mathematics, electrical engineering, computer engineering, and electronic engineering.
REWARD FOR THE GERMAN GOVERNMENT WASCAL SCHOLARSHIP 2024
The scholarship reward includes the following;
- Awarded applicants receive a monthly allowance that covers their accommodation expenses throughout their study years.

- Trips to selected countries in West Africa and also to Germany are being taken care of.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR THE WASCAL SCHOLARSHIP
Candidates who wish to apply are advised to submit the following forms;
- Application form
- Academic transcript
- Curriculum vitae
- WASSCE or SSCE certificate specifically for Anglophone countries
- The recommendation letter is required at least two from two different professors or researchers ( grade associate professor or senior researcher is very important).
- Applicants must submit a copy of their identity
- A copy of the passport photo page is needed
- Applicants must submit a letter of motivation at least it should be two pages.
- Applicants must also submit a copy of their university degree
- A certificate of proficiency in English must be summited or other cases a statement showing and justifying your self-assessments in the English language context
- Also a proof of professional experience in an important field for the course if necessary
- and lastly, a written commitment to pay a registration of 30 euros if admitted
